Storms damage farms

This county has been visited this year by most extraordinary storms. Perhaps at no period in the history of the State have storms of such singular violence been so frequent,. They have nearly all been attended with hail in some instances of remarkable size, farms have suffered largely. We saw a few days since a large field of wheat literally annihilated by the hail.

We learn that a recent storm has seriously injured the farm of our townsman Presley R. Smith, more than 300 trees have been torn up by the roots or twisted from their trunks, and there is scarcely the sign of a fence remaining. Our friend Presley is in a bad “streak,” and we sincerely condole with him.
